Mike Padua is a long time lover of film photography. He branched that love out to start ShootFilmCo. an online website that sells analog photography related merch. Since the launch, he’s been exploring various film types and cameras to include to his massive collection. We sent Mike the Sprocket Rocket along with a couple of rolls of our Lomography Film to try out. He chat with us about his experience with the camera and origins of his love for analog.
The Sounds of Analog Photography
Crank, load, wind are some of analog photography’s favorite verbs. Their corresponding sounds make up the everyday orchestra of film, from the ripping of the film carton to the clipping of negatives. In between, the music is snappier. The swivel of lenses, shutter press and instant printing make up the quick-pulsed soundtrack of Lomography’s favorite tactile activity.

One of the best assets of film photography is that no two sets of photographs are the same. They’re always varying in colors and light – some are too pink, some bright yellow, tungsten, washed out, overly bright.. and that’s the beauty of analogue photography.

Fresh Outdoor Shots Taken with the SuperSampler
The SuperSampler is one of Lomography’s Plastic Fantastic Cameras, and they’re called that for good reason. With the SuperSampler, a pull of the ripcord allows you to take four sequential shots in one frame, making analogue photography just a little more fun and unpredictable than usual!

Emulsion is a film photography centered zine mastermined by Chris Gampat of The Phoblographer. After launching a Kickstarter campaign to fund the publication, Gampat and his team had an overwhelming amount of submissions from across the globe. Narrowed down to the final few photographers, the first edition of Emulsion is now released. Featuring exceptional work from many photographers including one of our TEN AND ONE judges Luca Mercedes. We got a chance to speak to Chris about the process of making Emulsion and his admiration for analog and photography.
